Why do Jews, Christians and Muslims follow archaic traditions based on Geonocide, Murder & ?

If the stories of the Bible are taken to be true, the family of Adam and Eve were uous (how else did they procreate), Abraham 'heard' voices fromGod telling him to have with his servant and, later to murder his son. All the people of the Book have, at various times up to today, recommended or atempted genocide against each other and have justified their views and/or actions by their scriptures. Why do people in this modernage continue to believe in such evidently barbaric views?
